Currently, the urban population is becoming increasingly dense. In order to solve the problem of insufficient parking space in the city, the use of multi-level parking garages has been initiated. Especially in summer, the high temperature and dry climate increase the risk of fire. Many multi-level parking garages are enclosed, so fire prevention measures need to be considered to ensure safety. Therefore, the fire prevention design should meet the following requirements.

一、Separation of fire between parking spaces

In order to control the spread of fire, a good method is to ensure separation. This means that if there are repair parking spaces within the multi-level parking garage, a fireproof wall should be set up between the parking spaces and the repair area. If the multi-level parking garage is close to other buildings, dedicated firewalls should also be installed to prevent mutual influence.

二、Fireproof eaves for doors and windows

After a fire starts, wind can exacerbate the situation. Therefore, in the underground multi-level parking garage, fireproof eaves or threshold walls can be installed at key positions such as ventilation openings or doors and windows to prevent the spread of fire. The size and fire resistance of the materials should be tested and determined before installation to ensure efficiency.

三、Evacuation passages and exits

The multi-level parking garage is composed of mechanical equipment that requires electrical energy to operate. If transformers and oil switches are installed inside the garage, additional fire prevention measures should be implemented. For example, multiple evacuation exits should be set up in different directions to prevent overcrowding during evacuation.

These are the fire prevention design requirements for multi-level parking garages. Additionally, there should be at least two evacuation exits, and the distance to the exits should be controlled within a specified range. Automatic sprinkler systems should be installed as protective measures. The materials used for firewalls and other facilities in popular multi-level parking garages should have good fire resistance to ensure effectiveness in critical moments.
