Dongguan's new parking regulations are here!

   Parking difficulties are plaguing many car owners. To solve the parking problem, many regions have successively introduced corresponding regulations to crack down on illegal parking and parking difficulties.

    Recently, the Dongguan Municipal Traffic Management Department issued the "Implementation Rules for the Management of Motor Vehicle Parking Service Charges" to solve the parking difficulties in Dongguan. This regulation brings good news to car owners in Dongguan.

Public parking units are free of charge, and parking spaces are open

    The rules specify the supporting parking lots for the public (public welfare) units, which should provide motor vehicle parking services free of charge in principle. Compared with other regions, the rules in Dongguan make more detailed regulations, including supporting manual or automatic parking facilities at urban public transportation hubs, airports, stations, docks, tourist attractions, non-profit medical institutions, and public schools, all of which will be open to the public.

Implementing price leverage, differentiated charges

    The new rules especially propose "differential charging," implementing different charges for motor vehicle parking services for different vehicle types in different areas and at different times. In other words, parking fees in busy areas or peak periods will be higher, while parking fees in less crowded areas are expected to decrease.

Discounted parking for new energy vehicles

    Of particular note, the rules encourage operators to implement preferential charges for short-term parking and new energy vehicles. It can also be seen that the development of new energy vehicles is worth looking forward to. Therefore, the country's strong push for the development of new energy vehicles, from car purchase subsidies and vehicle tax exemptions to encouraging discounted parking, shows the promising development trend of new energy vehicles.

    To increase parking spaces and improve the parking difficulties in Dongguan, many government agencies and enterprises have set up professional multi-level garages in addition to the regular parking spaces, such as the Dongguan Intermediate People's Court Multi-level Garage Project and the Dongguan New World Multi-level Garage Project, which have to some extent alleviated the local parking difficulties.

    The main cause of parking difficulties in second- and third-tier cities is the weak transportation network. Just increasing parking spaces alone cannot completely solve the parking difficulties. Improving public transportation facilities and perfecting urban transportation is the real solution.
